Artificial intelligence is a term understood differently by different expert groups. For scientists, it means primarily methods and techniques to study various aspects of reality and the dynamic use of acquired knowledge to perform tasks that would be as effective as those used by the human brain. For specialists in computational science, it means a new class of software that is created and modified in the process of the so-called machine learning. This kind of software cannot be saved as algorithms, and its operation is not process-determined. For manufacturing engineers and technologists, it refers to a class of applications that can “learn” and perform tasks that have not yet been subject to automation because they could not be described in an algorithmic way. It is also software, which by its very nature can work in a way that we cannot fully predict. At the same time, it means software enabling full robotization of all manufacturing and business processes in the enterprise.

The majority of EU countries is developing programs, the essence of which is to increase spending on science and popularize the practical value of currently commercialized applications. However, there is no comprehensive strategy that would take into account the civilizational changes brought about by commercialization of scientific and technical achievements in this area. In particular, we want to point out that the new legal ecosystems that will be prepared for industry 4.0 must take into account the fact that its technological basis will be software dominated by artificial intelligence modules.
