“If the lifeblood of the digital economy is data, its heart is digital trust”

Cyber risks and cyberattacks are ranked among the top five global risks by the World Economic Forum Global Risks Report 2019, persistently challenging economies, businesses, national security, international stability and privacy . At a global level, cybercrime causes multibillion dollar losses to business –  the average cost of cybercrime for an organization has increased from $11.7 million in 2017 to $13.0 million just recently. While efforts and investment to improve cybersecurity continue to grow, also in EU, security developments lag behind the pace of the malicious use of digital technologies. Cyber threats accelerate exponentially in the Fourth Industrial Revolution in frequency, impact and sophistication. Accelerate to the level that may undermine a digital trust that is required to safeguard innovation, protecting institutions, businesses and individuals.

During our discussion, the following topics shall be addressed:

  • New technologies (5G, AI, IoT, Cloud) – new chances – new threats
    • how the implementation of new technologies will impact our life as individuals, companies, societies ?
    • industry slicing system – paradigm change for network cybersecurity ?
    • what are the critical factors to ensure effective security measures – does transparency matters ?
    • how to make a digital technologies a source of development and not source of risk ?
  • How to build a digital trust  – a prerequisite to ensure a smooth adoption of innovation ?
    • workforce awareness and accountability around cyber security;
    • frameworks that incorporate accountability, auditability, transparency and  ethics;
    • digital trust is a team sport how to ensure that businesses and governments to play together ?
    • prioritization of security and development of systems that ensure transparency and accountability.
